Madame Jo Jo is simply amazing

American World Champion Jordyn Wieber shows her class on beam
Don't you just love Jordyn Wieber?  She's my favourite gymnast, apart from all the others, and she's the World Champion, and she's the one I've named my blog after.

Granpa and I were watching TV and there was gymnastics and he said to me 'who is that little girl a-jumping and a-bouncing around on that there floor?'  'That's our Jo' I replied.  'What you say', Granpa replied (he is partly deaf).  'Jo!' I exclaimed, then again I repeated again 'Jo!'.   'Jo Jo!' said Granpa 'that little Jo Jo, she's jumping up and down so high it's like she's on some kinda amazing tramp'line.'

I guess that with such good skills she'll be strong and solid at the Olympics.  I have been reading some gymnastics books, and I think what she is showing above is 'body alignment'.  She is such an amazing champion, it makes me proud to be an American.

Ally Raisman in flight

Wow - have you seen this!?

It makes me want to cry - just look at the determined expression on her face.  She works SOOO hard.

She looks so relaxed in the air, not stiff like lots of the other gymnasts are.  I love Ally - and I'm really pleased that Martha does too.

She says everything about American gymnastics.  They'll never let you down.  GO ALLY!!

Gabby's one handed vault

Gabby Douglas performed her Amanar vault at the Pacific Rims on only one hand!!  A-MAZ-ING!!!  I don't blame her for only being able to do two twists - it must be SO difficult.

Gymnastics Coaching blog is complaining that she received a 6.5 start value for this vault - but surely the SV should be HIGHER - after all, she was only trying her hardest to do something a little bit different - I hope she does this at the Olympics!

Gabby Douglas - the first gymnast ever to try a one-handed vault - she's so brave
Gabby's form is always so great.

Interview with Martha Karolyi!

Martha Karolyi has been talking to the press at the Pacific Rim Championships ... hooray!!!  Here is a link to the Gymnastics Examiner transcript.  The American team came first and Jordyn Wieber won gold!  My favourite gymnast, Gabby Douglas, had a bit of a difficult time there, but Martha doesn't seem to think it's anything serious.

She says that the American team is very solid.

Hi!

I just love the American gymnasts - Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas, Alicia Sacramone, Rebecca Bross, Nastia Liukin, Alexandra Raisman, Kyla Ross - they are all so AWESOME!!!

And what's so exciting ... the team has AT LEAST FOUR AMANARS ... they are so solid and consistent and almost bound to win in London ... I can hardly wait for the summer.
